AMLAMAX (TM) is the purified, standardized extract of ‘Amla’ fruits. Acute and subacute toxicity studies were carried out by oral administration of AMLAMAX (TM) at different doses in mice and rats. Doses upto 2g/kg orally for three months did not produce any haematological, biochemical and histological changes in vital organs.

AMLAMAXTM is a purified standardized extract of Emblica officinalis (Euphorbiaceae) standardized with polyphenols. lt is native to India, Ceylon, Malaya and China. Fruits of ‘Amla’ commonly known as ‘lndian gooseberry’ are reputed Ayurvedic rasayan (revitalizer, biological response modifier), used for the treatment of a number of diseases and debility statesl.’Ayurvedic’ literature mentions the use of ‘Amla’ fruit, its juice or extract, either given alone or in combination with other herbs in the treatment of cardiac ailmentsl. lt is an ingredient in ‘Chyavanprash’, ‘Triphala’, ‘Dhatri Rasayan’, etc. The potent Vitamin C like anti-oxidative activity and all other properties of ‘Amla’ fruits have now been located in hydrolysable gallo ellagic – tannins (polyphenols)2.
